GHOST OPS – Privacy Policy

Last updated: 30 October 2026

GHOST OPS ("the game", "we", "us") is a real-world multiplayer hide-and-seek game made by Playtime Apps (contact: jnjnoir@gmail.com). This policy covers the GHOST OPS Android app and the GHOST OPS web version. They use the same game server.

We do not use advertising, ad networks, analytics or tracking SDKs, and we do not sell your data.

What we collect and why

1. Your location (precise GPS)

  • When you allow it, the app sends your device's GPS position to the game server while you are in a squad lobby or a round, so the game can work: set the play zone, check zone boundaries, run radar pings, and measure tag range and proximity alerts.
  • Your position is shared only with the other players in your room, as the game rules allow (for example on radar pings). It is not shared with anyone else.
  • During a round, the Android app can keep sending your position while the screen is off. When it does, Android shows a persistent "GHOST OPS: round in progress" notification. This stops when the round ends, or when you close the app. The app does not request "all the time" background location permission.
  • What the server keeps: only your latest position (and its accuracy) is kept. Each new GPS fix overwrites the previous one, so no location history or route trail is built. A temporary copy of the live round, which includes players' latest positions, is used to recover a round if the server restarts. It is deleted automatically when the round ends.
  • The host's chosen zone centre (a map point) and an area name are kept with the room settings. The map image of the zone is cached on the server.
  • To name the play area, your device sends the zone centre coordinates to OpenStreetMap's Nominatim service. The server asks OpenStreetMap's Overpass service for main-road data inside the zone area.

2. Your player profile

  • Your chosen name or callsign, a randomly generated player ID (stored on your device so you can rejoin), and your avatar photo if you take or upload one.
  • Game progress: level, XP, kit and loadouts, medals, scores and leaderboard stats.

3. Camera photos and short clips taken during play

  • When you tag or get tagged, the app may capture a photo and a short (about 3-second) video clip from the camera. These have no sound. They are used as "proof" in the game and in end-of-round highlight reels.
  • Highlight reels are shown to the players in your room. The developer may upload them to YouTube as unlisted videos, which can be viewed by anyone who has the link.

4. Crash and error reports

  • If the app hits an error, it sends a diagnostic report: the error message, your player ID and name, game state, GPS accuracy (not your coordinates), your device or browser type, screen size, and recent app log lines. These reports are used only to fix bugs.

5. Network data

  • Like any internet service, the server and our network provider (Cloudflare) process your IP address to deliver the connection.

Permissions the Android app uses

  • Location (precise/approximate): the core gameplay described above.
  • Foreground service (location) and notifications: keep GPS running during a round with the screen off, with a visible notification.
  • Camera: avatar selfie, scope view and tag photos and clips. The images stay on your device unless you take a tag photo or clip, or save an avatar.
  • Vibration and keep screen awake: in-game alerts, and stopping the screen from sleeping during a round.
  • Internet: connecting to the game server.

How long we keep data

  • Live location: only the latest position is kept and it is overwritten on every update. The round-recovery copy is deleted when the round ends.
  • Profile, progress, match records, photos, clips and reels: kept for as long as the game runs, so you keep your rank and Service Record, or until you ask us to delete them.
  • Crash reports: kept until the bug is fixed, then deleted periodically.

Your choices and deleting your data

  • You can refuse or revoke location and camera permission in Android Settings at any time. The game cannot run rounds without location.
  • To have your profile, photos, clips, stats or reels deleted, email jnjnoir@gmail.com with your player name. We will delete them within 30 days.

Security

All traffic between the app and the game server is encrypted (HTTPS/WSS).

Children

GHOST OPS is not directed at children under 13. Younger players should only play with a parent or guardian's permission and supervision.
